What Vehicles Does Honda Build In Canada?

During the month of July 2020, Honda is once again celebrating the Checkered Flag Event by drawing attention to the Canadian roots of the brand's best-selling vehicles.

Canadian Built. Canadian Driven.

So what does Honda actually build in Canada?

At the company's manufacturing plants in Alliston, Ontario, Honda assembles its two best-selling models: the Civic and CR-V. Since 1998, for 22 consecutive years, the Civic has been the best-selling car in Canada. It's a nearly unbelievable streak that now results in 12 percent of the cars sold in Canada coming out of the Civic's Ontario plant. That's a 54% market share improvement over the last 15 years.

Civic assembly in Ontario, however, goes back much further than that. Honda manufacturing began in Canada in 1986, and the Civic began its Canadian run two years later in 1988.

Fast forward to 2012 and Honda began producing the CR-V in Canada, as well. In 2019, the CR-V was the top-selling SUV in Prince Edward Island, a testament to the belief Islanders have in long-lasting, fun-to-drive, efficient, value-packed vehicles.

At different points in time, Honda has built a wide variety of vehicles in Canada, including the Accord, Ridgeline, Odyssey, and Pilot, as well as a number of different Acuras.

Honda's Canadian manufacturing operations have the capacity to build 400,000 vehicles per year along with 260,000 engines. Honda produced its six-millionth Canadian-made vehicle in 2012. In early 2020, Honda celebrated the production of its nine-millionth vehicle over the course of 34 years of vehicle assembly in Canada.

Honda says that 57% of the vehicles Honda has sold in Canada since 2013 were built right here in Canada.
