This Is The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback – A Manual Transmission Is Available
June 25 2021, Centennial Honda
The hatchback version of the 11th-generation, 2022 Honda Civic that just landed in Honda's Canadian showrooms will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
In fact, both of the 2022 Civic Hatchback's engine options can be paired with the manual transmission, which is improved with more rigid shift quality and shorter throws. The manual transmission will be offered in all three trim levels: LX, Sport, and Sport Touring. Civic LXs are equipped with Honda's 2.0-liter engine cranking out 158 horspower; the Sport and Sport Touring are powered by a 180-horsepower turbocharged engine that creates max. torque from 1,700 rpm.
Built on the 11th-gen Civic platform, the new hatchback's wheelbase is 35mm longer with a rear track (the distance between the two rear wheels) that's 12mm wider than before. Overall, the Hatchback is 124mm shorter than the sedan, bumper to bumper, yet offers 66% more cargo capacity behind the rear seats.
Honda's also made it easier to access the gigantic cargo area thanks to a lower liftover height (it's down by 4cm) and a wider opening (it's expanded by 4cm.) Cargo volume isn't the only focus – the new Civic Hatchback's rear legroom has been improved by 36mm compared to the outgoing hatchback.
The 2022 Civic Hatchback LX is spectacularly well equipped with high-end features like blind spot monitoring, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, proximity access/pushbutton start, and Honda Sensing active safety tech such as adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. At the top end, meanwhile, there's a 9-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Bose audio, leather seating, and a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster.
What else? Well, it looks terrific. It's clearly a Civic, and clearly related to the 11th-generation Civic sedan, but the hatchback displays different characterisitcs that are distinctly sporty. It's a winner.
