The Canadian-Built 2023 Honda CR-V: Details, Trim Levels, Pricing, Release Date, Fuel Economy

Now available for pre-sale, the all-new 2023 Honda CR-V arrives this fall in sixth-generation form with four trim levels and a new hybrid offering.

A quarter-century ago, Honda introduced the first CR-V, and the new version of Honda's best-selling product stays true to the original's mission: efficient, capable, safe, compact on the outside, big on the inside, and fun to drive. In fact, the 2023 CR-V is clearly the most fun-to-drive yet.

Yet for the sixth-generation, Honda will now be building and selling a hybrid version of the CR-V in Canada for the first time ever. Exclusively paired with the top-spec Touring model – all 2023 CR-V Tourings are hybrids – the hybrid isn't just the most fuel-efficient CR-V ever, it's also the most powerful. Combined system horsepower for the 2023 CR-V Touring Hybrid is 204, and there's 247 lb-ft of torque.

According to Natural Resources Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency, the Touring Hybrid has a combined fuel economy rating of 6.4 L/100km. That's an astonishing 45% reduction in fuel consumption compared with the 1997 Honda CR-V made even all the more impressive when you realize the CR-V Touring Hybrid produces 62% more horsepower than that 1997 CR-V.

Honda Canada's 2023 CR-V lineup kicks off with the LX in either front-wheel-drive ($34,790) or all-wheel-drive ($37,590) formats. The CR-V Sport comes standard with all-wheel drive at $41,490. Like the LX and Sport, the $43,390 2023 CR-V EX-L runs with Honda's 190-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo that's been upgraded to generate peak torque lower in the rev range. The final rung on the ladder is the CR-V Touring Hybrid at $48,890. (MSRPs do not include the $1,950 destination charge.)

Key standard equipment on the 2023 Honda CR-V LX includes:

  • • heated front seats
  • • sunroof
  • • LED headlights
  • • dual-zone automatic climate control
  • • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • • 7-inch touchscreen

The 2023 CR-V Sport adds to or replaces CR-V LX features:

  • • Berlina Black 18-inch alloy wheels
  • • heated steering wheel
  • • gloss black exterior accents

Honda's 2023 CR-V EX-L trim levels adds major extras:

  • • leather seating
  • • 9-inch touchscreen
  • • wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • • wireless smartphone charging
  • • 8-speaker audio

Some of the 2023 Honda CR-V Touring Hybrid's extras include:

  • • 12-speaker Bose audio with Centerpoint technology and SurroundStage
  • • navigation
  • • WiFi hotspotting
  • • 19-inch alloys

The CR-V's RealTime all-wheel-drive system can now send up to 50% of power to the rear wheels, greatly enhancing handling in wintry conditions. For 2023, there's also a new Hill Descent Control system plus Normal, Econ, and Snow modes (plus a Hybrid-exclusive Sport mode) for the RealTime AWD system. Meanwhile, Honda's expansive Honda Sensing suite now includes Traffic Jam Assist, improved Adaptive Cruise Control, and upgraded Lane Keeping Assist.
