The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Will Be 60% Of Canadian Civic Sales
May 22 2024, Centennial Honda
With 232 lb-ft of torque, the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid will actually be the torquiest non-Type R Civic ever. And it's also expected to be rated at a penny-pinching 4.8 L/100km by Natural Resourses Canada's Office of Energy Efficiency.
POWERTRAIN
Honda Canada will offer the core 2025 Civic family in four trim levels – two of them hybrids – and expects those two hybrid trims to account for 60 percent of Civic sales next year. The refreshed Civic sedan/hatchback lineup will start out with the LX (sedan only) and Sport, featuring the standard 158-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid top the lineup with the 200 horsepower hybrid option. Adding a hybrid powerplant to the Civic makes Honda's hybrid lineup a trio – the Accord and CR-V already offer hybrid options.
CANADIAN-MADE
Honda's been selling Civics in Canada for 50 years and building the Civic in Canada for 36 years. Long the most popular car in Canada, the Civic continues to be assembled in Alliston, Ontario. While revamped for 2025 under the hood, the Civic will also be altered with familiar yet distinctive styling that will alert you to the fact that this 11th-gen car isn't a 2022, 2023, or 2024.
There are darker taillights and a more aggressive front fascia and grille; hybrids wear slightly different headlamp surrounds and a lower front spoiler. There's a new wheel design for the top-spec Sport Touring model, as well.
TRIMS
At the top of the lineup, the Sport Touring Hybrid is equipped with leather seats, a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless charging, 12-speaker Bose audio, USB-C inputs. Google built-in is now included in the Sport Touring, as well. Google built-in doesn't just allow you to easily text or set reminders – you can even change the cabin temperature simply by talking.
Information on the three other Civic trim levels will be available soon. Honda believes strongly that safety features shouldn't be available only for a select few. "Safety for Everyone" means the Civic's advanced safety elements are included in all trim levels: collision mitigation braking system with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, road depature mitigation with lane departure warning, lane keeping assist system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
EXTRAS
- • The hybrid version of the Civic will be the quietest member of the lineup thanks to Active Noise Control and wheel resonators.
- • Civic Hybrids also include unique spring and damper tuning with hybrid-specific tires to ensure all Civics maintain their standing as the most fun-to-drive vehicles in the segment.
- • Civic Hybrids utilize paddle shifters on the steering wheel that don't shift at all – they control four levels of regenerative braking that deliver power back to the battery.
