Revamped 2021 Honda Accord Is Now an IIHS Top Safety Pick+
December 17 2020, Centennial Honda
We're big believers in the power of Accord. For four decades, the Accord has exerted its dominance in the Canadian car market because it's a leader in so many different ways: performance, efficiency, build quality, durability, technology, features, space, style. The list goes on and on.
We're not the only ones who'll tell you the Honda Accord is an exceptional car, either. Car And Driver has named the Accord a 10 Best winner 23 years in a row. No other vehicle even comes close to that kind of streak. For 2021, Honda Canada set out to make the tenth-generation Accord even more exceptional by upping the level of standard equipment, adding a Canada-only SE trim level, and enhancing the Accord's safety quotient, as well.
Now we're excited to discover that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – the world's foremost crash-test organization – has given Honda's Accord the highest honours. For 2021, the Accord is a Top Safety Pick+. Adding that Plus designation sets the Accord apart. To become a Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle requires GOOD ratings in six distinct crash tests, ADVANCED or SUPERIOR ratings for active crash prevention, and ACCEPTABLE or GOOD headlight ratings for every model in the entire lineup.
The Accord ticks all these boxes and now joins the Insight and Odyssey as three Hondas with IIHS Top Safety Pick+ classification.
Every Accord in Canada includes Honda Sensing driver-assistance tech: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation with lane departure warning, and collision mitigation braking with pedestrian detection. For 2021, every Accord also features blind spot monitoring, a rear seat reminder, smoother adaptive cruise control, and more effective lane keeping assist.
