Buying your next vehicle can be an exciting experience, but if you find yourself feeling a little stressed over such a significant purchase, you’re not alone. On average, people spend almost 15 hours researching, shopping, and negotiating during the car buying process, so it’s safe to assume you want to be certain that you’re getting your money’s worth from your purchase.
You already know that Honda builds some of Canada’s safest, most reliable, and – let’s be honest – fun to drive vehicles on the market, but now we have more proof that Honda’s value and quality are second to none.
U.S. News & World Report have announced their ‘Best Cars for the Money’ award winners, and Honda vehicles are taking home the title in almost one-third of the categories. This year’s winners include the 2021 Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey, and the Honda Passport.
2021 Honda CR-V: Compact SUVs Best Car for the Money
The latest CR-V has been recognized as the winner of the Compact SUVs category for the fifth consecutive year (and eighth win overall). U.S. News & World Report highlighted its spacious interior, impressive fuel economy, and upscale cabin as a few of their favourite features.
“The CR-V is proof that a top-ranked car doesn’t have to be a budget buster,” said Executive Editor Jaime Paige Deaton. “Critics and buyers alike love how easy the CR-V is to live with. Its low ownership costs are the perfect complement to the CR-V’s practicality.”
2021 Honda Odyssey: Minivans Best Car for the Money
Honda's updated family favourite has earned the top spot in the Minivans category, hot off the heels of last year’s ‘Best Cars for Families’ win in the same category. Notable features for this refreshed ride include its roomy interior equipped with an expansive cargo area, an abundance of family-friendly technology, and a powerful V6 engine that always delivers a balanced driving experience.
“Given how roomy and upscale the cabin on the Honda Odyssey is, you might be surprised to find that it’s not a budget buster,” Deaton noted. “While it’s not the cheapest minivan on the market, it does have the best combination of quality and value.”
2021 Honda Passport: 2-Row SUVs Best Car for the Money
Last but not least, Honda's newest Passport has been awarded first place in U.S. News & World Report’s 2-Row SUV category. Editors love its well-rounded performance and spacious cabin, along with its powerful engine and handling.
“The Passport is the perfect example of a car that balances value and quality,” said Deaton. “Though it isn’t the least expensive SUV in its class, it offers great long-term value, with plenty of space and comfort, and strong recommendations from critics.”
In order to determine each category’s winner, U.S. News & World Report uses a combination of quality and value to measure a vehicle’s overall score. Quality is calculated using ranking based on safety, reliability, and a consensus of industry expert’s opinions, while value is measured by a vehicle’s five-year total total cost of ownership compared with the average price paid for the vehicle.
